PLEASE BE A RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNER!
CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG

Lakewood Trails is a great neighborhood for walking.  At almost any time you can see neighbors exercising and kids playing.  You don't have to be reminded that it is very friendly for pet owners walking their dogs.

BUT if you don't watch your step, you are liable to step in one such reminder!  Several neighbors have complained that there has been an increase of 'pet reminders' on sidewalks and in their yards.

For those of you who consistently clean up after your pet,  thank you. On behalf of your fellow residents, we appreciate your consideration and responsibility. However, others in our community neglect to pick up after their pets. And it’s a trend that is getting worse.

Besides being unsightly and smelly, animal waste can be hazardous to the health of our children who play in the community and other pets.  One of the most common forms of disease transmission between dogs is through fecal matter.

It is important to remember to immediately clean up after your pet as required by Dallas City Ordinance 7-4.8. Take along a baggie with you to pick up waste with and then dispose of it properly. By taking a few simple steps to clean up after your pet, you can contribute not only to the beautification of our community, but also towards the elimination of one of the most irritating nuisances in Lakewood Trails.

ALL DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH

Additionally, several residents have expressed concern that some individuals allow their dogs to be off the leash and the unleashed dogs have jumped on other residents and/or other pets.   As a reminder, Dallas City Ordinance 7-4.7 requires that dogs must be confined at all times within your personal property or on a leash. For the safety of you, your children, your dogs and other pets, Remember that your dog should always be leashed when walking in Lakewood Trails.

We are proud to be a pet-friendly community that offers a clean and comfortable living environment for everyone – and their pets – to call home.
