Our clean up team picks up litter on the SoPac Trail adjacent to our neighborhood on the second Saturday of each month, starting at 8:30am. Our clean up site begins under the Mockingbird Bridge continuing to the Trestle Bridge near White Rock Park. The clean up takes about an hour.   

 

Singles, couples and families are welcome. Kids love using the grabbers and take pride in picking up litter. Join us to help maintain the Blackland Prairie Remnant we adopted in 2017 by planting new seeds and removing weeds and invasive plants. Lakewood Trails volunteers will join TCA volunteers in continuing to remove the invasive species from the prairie. We will have extra tools and gloves and water available.
 
Exotic plants can escape from yards into the wild, disrupting natural communities and ecological processes. Invasive species often outcompete native plants by overgrowing spaces and decreasing biodiversity. They serve little use for native wildlife because they have not coevolved together. We need your help at Lakewood Park to remove invasive plants from one of Dallas' few remaining prairies. You'll help restore this prairie toward ecological health and rewild it to benefit bees, butterflies, bats, beetles, birds, and other pollinators. Please join us!
