| Blackland Prairie Upkeep | |
| Location: | Blackland Prairie area adjacent to Lakewood Park along Williamson Rd |
| Time: | 8:30am to 10:30am |
| Description: | Join us to help maintain the Blackland Prairie Remnant we adopted in 2017 by planting new seeds and removing weeds and invasive plants. Lakewood Trails volunteers will join TCA volunteers in continuing to remove the invasive species from the prairie. We will have extra tools and gloves and water available. Exotic plants can escape from yards into the wild, disrupting natural communities and ecological processes. Invasive species often outcompete native plants by overgrowing spaces and decreasing biodiversity. They serve little use for native wildlife because they have not coevolved together. We need your help at Lakewood Park to remove invasive plants from one of Dallas' few remaining prairies. You'll help restore this prairie toward ecological health and rewild it to benefit bees, butterflies, bats, beetles, birds, and other pollinators. Please join us! |
