We are fortunate enough to have a Blackland Prairie in our neighborhood boundaries, in an area just South of Lakewood Park on Williamson. Lakewood Trails Neighborhood Association has partnered with the City of Dallas Parks Department and the Master Naturalists to adopt this remnant and restore it to its natural state. 

 

On March 4th, Sunday, at 1:00 p.m. we are going to meet at the prairie remnant to plant about 43 pots of native grasses, provided by the City of Dallas and the Master Naturalists.  It will be our next step in restoring the prairie to its original state of native plants and grasses.  Please come help plant the grasses! Please bring shovels and gloves, if you have them, although we will try to have extras. Kids are especially welcome! 

LTNA participates in the Adopt-a -Shoreline project with “For The Love Of The Lake.” We meet the 2nd Saturday of every month. Our clean up area at White Rock starts at the corner of Winsted Dr and Garland Rd and continues north to the train trestle.

Anyone can help us; just remember to register at the For the Love of the Lake Office (1152 North Buckner Boulevard, Suite 123) at 8am prior to working.  A continental breakfast and clean up supplies are provided. For more information or to join our team contact Pat Watson at 214 531 1299.
