LTNA participates in the Adopt-a -Shoreline project with “For The Love Of The Lake.” We meet the 2nd Saturday of every month. Our clean up area at White Rock starts at the corner of Winsted Dr and Garland Rd and continues north to the train trestle.

Anyone can help us; just remember to register at the For the Love of the Lake Office (1152 North Buckner Boulevard, Suite 123) at 8am prior to working.  A continental breakfast and clean up supplies are provided. For more information or to join our team contact Pat Watson at 214 531 1299.

The North Texas Water Garden Society's Annual Tour of Ponds is a two-day self-guided tour of ponds all across DFW. Lakewood Trails neighbor's Felix and Maggie Saucedo's ponds, at 6729 Santa Maria, are on this year's tour and will be available for viewing on SATURDAY, June 10 from 9am-5pm.

 

The Saucedo's will also have pond tour books available for $20. The tour book guide features 41 pond listings, descriptions, directions and color pictures. It also includes a map and pond related articles of interest. One book per carload provides access to all 41 ponds on June 10-11, 2017. Each book is $20 and can be purchased at ntwgs.org via PayPal or from one of the sponsors listed on the website or at the Saucedo's home.

 

The tour also consists of several ponds that are on the enchanted night tour that are open until 11pm.

Is your trash can full at the end of the week? Did you know that you can reduce the waste carried to landfills by composting more and throwing away less? This program teaches the composting process, the different types and methods of composting, as well as how to compost and its importance. Plan to attend the workshop! Daniel Cunningham, a horticulturist with the Water University of Texas A&M AgriLife Research in Dallas will be the instructor.
